Why Is It Interesting To Visit Auckland?

The history of Auckland dates back to 1840 when the British Governor William Hobson and Maori chiefs signed the Treaty of Waitangi in which they posed Auckland city as capital of the country. In the beginning the city was called George Eden, in honor of the first Duke of Auckland. At that time Maori and British officers and artisans lived in the area. Subsequently Wellington became the capital of New Zealand, however, Auckland remains the first city in the country.
